Do you want to help reduce food waste as volunteer in The Hague? Every Tuesday morning you can help with sorting fruits and vegetables. Tomatoes, potatoes and onions for instance have to be sorted out and placed in seperate bags. The well-oiled team with the permanent volunteers will show you the ropes. You will help with sorting and preparing food for packaging. Are you not afraid to get dirty hands and would you like to help out sometime? We advise sturdy shoes for this activity and clothes that can get dirty.
Fruits and vegetables are regularly thrown away due to a minor issue with shape, size or colour. The Vegetables & Fruitbrigade saves these. Eventhough the shape might be different, they still taste the same. The Groente & Fruitbrigade supplies fruits and vegetables to the Voedselbank in The Netherlands. This way we help in reducing food waste, and to top this off you also help reduce land, water, energy and CO2 waste. Good for the environment!
The location is difficult to reach by public transport (it's relatively close to the foodbank). Having your own mode of transport would be ideal.
