General help

Today you will help at the food garden, a project that has been set up in order to provide people in need with healthy food. You work together with the regular volunteers, who are mostly people with a distance to the labour market, for various reasons. You help cultivate the fruit and vegetables. Together with the group you'll enjoy a cup of coffee, the fresh air, a very inspiring environment! Sometimes you even get some freshly picked beans, pumpkin or fruits to take home. Your clothes may get dirty, so wear some stuff that fits this activity. In fall/winter, make sure you bring some warm clothes as well.

The food garden produces vegetables and fruit for the Food Bank, a national organisation that provides food packages for deprived families. Usually, these boxes only contained dried and contained food, but with the help of the food garden they now also have some fresh food and vitamines. They work together with various volunteers, who go there to do good and be active.

The Food Garden is located close to Marconiplein, in Rotterdam West. The entrance lies behind the Food Bank building. Take the small path between Keilestraat 7 and 9. Or take the path on the left of Keileweg 8, after 50 meters you find the garden on your right hand. You will see the garden when you continue this path. Put on some warm clothes (fall/winter) that may get a little dirty.
