Help with circus Workshop for immigrant children

Stichting de Vrolijkheid Rotterdam

14 August 2020
Edo Bergsmaweg 14, 3077PX Rotterdam
15:00 - 18:00

Do you love children, do you have a big heart, are you resourceful and solution-oriented and do you have some time left? Then come and help at Stichting De Vrolijkheid Rotterdam! Stichting de Vrolijkheid is committed to let the children of AZC Rotterdam have a good time! Various fun and creative workshops are offered throughout the summer holidays. As a volunteer you assist the workshop leaders in carrying out the workshop, but you are also a listening ear for the children. As with all NL Cares activities, you are not committed to anything. So you are welcome to join and see if this is an activity that suits you!

In the circus workshop the children learn everything about all the fun activities you can do in a circus. The first half of the workshop is for children from age 4 till 8. The second half for the children age 9 till 12. On August 28th there will be a circusshow!

Target group & Impact

Stichting de Vrolijkheid has been present in asylum-seekers centers since 2000. We work with children in different age groups, who participate in weekly workshops. With the children and teenagers we make theater-plays, movies, music and art. It is about creating value, something for the children to express their feelings, dreams, ideas and stories. Something that has value and fosters dignity.

The language skills of the children at the AZC vary a lot. Most of these children don't have a lot of opportunities to practice Dutch and English at home. So make sure you speak calmly and clearly and adjust to the pace of the child. This pace can also be higher than you expect, so adjust your tempo to the level of the child. Tram 23 and buses 143, 144, 191, 245 and 489 (Stop P + R Beverwaard) stop a five minute walk from the AZC. There are sufficient parking spaces at the AZC.
