Night of the Volunteer 2019

On this yearly night, around 80 volunteers in The Hague will be helping people in their city by giving them a fun night with company and personal attention. After the activity, from 20:30h all volunteers are welcome to have a drink and share experiences at Bleyenberg in the center. The Night of the Volunteer 2019 is made possible by Klaverblad Foundation and Fonds1818.

Gourmet grill is often a fun way of having a dinner party during Christmas or New Years. For a lot of the elderly it has been a long time ago since they've done that, but it's always a fond memory. Lots of elderly people don't have a lot of social contact anymore and therefore enjoy having dinner together with new people. This evening we make it memorable by enjoying this Gourmet grill feast together. To make it even more extravagant, we will also be making fresh waffles for everyone. As a volunteer you will help with preparations like cutting baguette and setting the tables. You will pick up residents from their rooms and make sure everyone is comfortable and have something to drink. Whilst having dinner together you can get to know one another. After dinner you will help preparing the waffles. This great evening will be accompanied by live music.

Officially preparations already start at 17:00p.m. If you are available from that time please write an e-mail to denhaag@nlcares.nl

Target group & impact

The elderly of Cato Bezuidenhout love a fun evening activity and to have a conversation. The presence of you as a volunteer and personal attention is very much appreciated by the residents and the staff! They love it when volunteers come to help out. Due to increasing cuts in health care, less and less staff is available to supervise social activities. The residents of the elderly homes do no longer experience much personal attention. Be prepared that older people maintain a slower pace than you're used to.

Cato Bezuidenhout is beautiful located next to the Haagse Bos in Bezuidenhout. The elderly living at Cato Bezuidenhout need intensive care and a protected living environment.
