Do you like to take a walk with elderly? Due to a lack of care personnel, many elderly cannot go outside as often as they would like. Today you will go outside with the elderly of residential care center De Eshoeve. You guide the elderly while walking by pushing their wheelchair. There is also a duo bike available, where you can pedal together or you can pedal alone. While walking you can have a nice chat with the elderly.
If the weather is bad you are still welcome to play a game or have a chat with the elderly while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea.
The residents of the Albatros department at De Eshoeve residential care center that you will be walking with, are elderly people with dementia. It may therefore be that they repeat themselves during a conversation or sometimes do not know anymore. It is important with these elderly that you take the time for this.
Loneliness is a major problem that increases with age. Almost two-thirds of people over 85 feel lonely, which has many negative consequences. Due to the high workload on the care staff, older people are increasingly staying in their room all day long. As a result, the elderly come less into contact with other people. You can change that by going out for a walk with these elderly people!
Nursing home De Eshoeve is located in the Belgisch Park in Scheveningen. Elderly people with dementia live in this nursing home who are therefore no longer able to live at home.
