Walking with the elderly from HWW de Eshoeve

HWW De Eshoeve

14 June 2021
Doorniksestraat 150-152, 2587 AZ Den Haag
13:00 - 15:00

Do you like to take a walk with elderly? Due to a lack of care personnel, many elderly cannot go outside as often as they would like. Today you will go outside with the elderly of residential care center De Eshoeve. You guide the elderly while walking. You undertake this walk together. The walk will therefore not be in a group, but you will guide the resident individually. In this way we make sure that we comply with the current corona measures at all times. While walking you can have a nice chat with the elderly.

If the weather is bad you are still welcome to play a game or have a chat with the elderly while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea.

Target group & impact

The elderly at department 'De Residentie' at De Eshoeve are elderly people with physical handicaps, which makes them very dependent on caretakers to go outside. Unfortunately this means they don't get to go outside a lot. Your contribution means one extra elderly can go outside, which is incredibly valuable.

Loneliness is a major problem that increases with age. Almost two-thirds of people over 85 feel lonely, which has many negative consequences. Due to the high workload on the care staff, older people are increasingly staying in their room all day long. As a result, the elderly come less into contact with other people. You can change that by going out for a walk with these elderly people!

Nursing home De Eshoeve is located in the Belgisch Park in Scheveningen. Elderly people with dementia live in this nursing home who are therefore no longer able to live at home.
